We can only meet others as deep as we dare to meet our shadows. The power of intimacy resides in the safety of exploring our brokenness and letting another watch how we fix it ourselves. It does not reside in being fixed by an external force, but in having someone who believes we have it in us to do it. And that someone witnesses how we dare to discover or create what was needed for our own fixing.
We become stronger by facing our weakness, not by hiding from it. The other is the catalyst and the validation of both the wound and the healing. Expansion can not happen in isolation, only fear.
